Question:

  • How can I troubleshoot problems with Trustwave Spam Reporter for Outlook?

Background:

Trustwave Spam Reporter is an Outlook (Office365) add-in that allows email users to report a message as spam to Trustwave with one click. Trustwave uses this information to update spam and malware detection for the Secure Email Gateway product.

Users can report suspect messages simply by clicking the Trustwave "Report Email" icon. It may take a few seconds for the message to be retrieved and reported. The user will see a process notification in the message.

Troubleshooting procedures:

  • Trustwave Spam Reporter can only be installed for Office 365 organizations. It cannot be installed for premises Exchange or individual workstations.

If you find that the reporting process does not complete, you can troubleshoot as follows:

  1. Make sure you are online when clicking the button. The spam reporter will not work when you are offline.
  2. Is the problem happening to all messages?
  3. Shut down and restart Outlook. Try again.
  4. If the problem is only happening for a specific message, save the message.
  5. Ask your company administrator to contact Trustwave Technical Support with the details. If the issue is only with a specific message, provide a copy of the message.
