Upgrading Nodes from the Configurator fails


This article applies to:

  • Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG) 6.X through 8.X
    • Remote upgrade is not available in MailMarshal (SEG) 10.X
  • Upgrading from version 6.4 or 6.5 to version 6.7 or above.

Symptoms:

  • Using the Configurator to upgrade additional processing node servers 
  • MMUpdater service on the node server fails while upgrading
  • Other MailMarshal services on the node are stopped
  • Error message: MailMarshal MMUpdater has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Resolution:

Restart the affected node processing server(s). The upgrade is complete and all services should resume normal operation. 

Notes:

  • To avoid the issue completely, do not use the remote upgrade from the Configurator. Log on to each node server and run the product installer.
  • This issue does not affect all installations.
  • The issue relates to the previous version of the Updater. The issue has been fixed for upgrades from 6.7 to later versions but this does not resolve the issue for existing installations.
