This article applies to:
- Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG) 6.1.8 and above Spam Quarantine Management Website
- Trustwave ECM/MailMarshal Exchange QM website
Question:
- Why is the SQM website not functioning?
Symptoms:
- Error: The connection to the array manager failed. Insufficient registry rights to this section. Please correct and try again.
- Event log message: Authorization failed for Testing\Administrator. A problem occured during authentication: Insufficient registry rights to this section.
Cause:
- In the listed versions of MailMarshal, the account used to connect from the Spam Quarantine Management website to the Array Manager must have access to the MailMarshal section of the Registry on the Array Manager.
Recommended solution:
- The easiest way of granting this permission to an account is to add the account to the Administrators group on the MailMarshal Array Manager machine. It can be a local or domain account.
- You can view and change the details of the account used with the configuration tool for the SQM website:
- Versions 6.2 and below: MailMarshal Web Configuration tool
- Versions 6.4 and above, MailMarshal Exchange 7.X: Administrator tab of the SQM or QM website
Alternate method:
You can grant permission to an account by changing the Windows Registry permissions for the MailMarshal Registry keys on the Array Manager.
- Click Start > Run.
- Type regedit and click OK.
- Navigate to the MailMarshal registry key
- By default with MailMarshal SMTP 8.0 and above (64 bit) the location is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Trustwave\Secure Email Gateway
- For details of the Registry locations for each MailMarshal version, see the following Trustwave Knowledgebase articles:
- Right click the key Secure Email Gateway and select Permissions.
- Grant full control to any user or group requiring access.
- On the web server running SQM, restart the SQM Website.
Notes:
- By default, granting "full control" to Registry keys does not allow a user to change the Registry remotely. Other security settings prevent this. However setting this permission does allow the SQM website to connect using this account.
Warning: Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Trustwave cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be resolved. Make sure that you back up your Registry prior to making any changes.
