Symptoms:
- Internal error 2381 is received when using the Microsoft Windows Installer.
- Error: 'Internal Error 2381: Directory does not exist: xx'. Where 'xx' is the path it is unable to create or access.
- When installing software that uses the Microsoft Windows Installer Setup engine from a CD-ROM, a setup error message may be received.
Causes:
This error results when there is a problem writing to the path specified for installation. This problem is typically one that involves insufficient permissions to the specified path.
Procedure:
Verify that the current user has sufficient permissions to access the installation directory, or switch to a user that does have such permissions, such as an administrator.
