PRB: Dist service not starting after upgrade to NAC 5.1.2

This article applies to:

  • NAC 5.1.2

Symptoms:

  • Upgraded to version 5.1.2
  • Dist service is stopped
  • The following errors are logged in /var/log/messages:
Jun 19 14:49:55 test-sensor Container: Starting container
Jun 19 14:49:55 test-sensor Container: Invalid maximum heap size: -Xmx0m
Jun 19 14:49:55 test-sensor Container: Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Jun 19 14:49:55 test-sensor Container: Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

    Causes:

    • This issue is caused by a problem with an upgrade script. The issue is fixed in the next release.

    Resolution:

    Log in to the sensor via ssh as root and run:

    rm /usr/dist/config/appliance.conf ; configure-appliance; service dist start

    Notes:

    If you are still experiencing issues with dist startup after running the above command please contact support.
