INFO: Is it possible to enforce Safe Search on the SWG when HTTPS protocol is used by the search engines?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • SWG version 11.7 and earlier

Question:

  • Is it possible to enforce Safe Search on the SWG when HTTPS protocol is used by the search engines?

Reply:

There is currently no way to enforce Safe Search when HTTPS protocol is being used by the search engines (this applies to SWG versions up to 11.7) .

There is however a workaround for this problem which can be implemented by altering the DNS server configuration - please refer to the links below for more details:

https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/186669 (Option 3 on the link)

Notes:

SafeSearch is a feature of Google and other search engines that acts as an automated filter of pornography and potentially offensive content.
