INFO: Inline Filtering and Google Services

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Web Filter and WFR versions 5.1.00 and above
  • Inline filtering configured (available in Bridge, Router, or Firewall mode)

Symptoms:

  • Some Google services do not work when inline filtering is configured.
  • Affected services can include Chromebook login, Gmail, and Google Drive.

Information:

Google secure (HTTPS) sites are configured in a way that does not work with inline HTTPS inspection as performed by the Web Filter.

Resolution:

To resolve this issue it is necessary to deploy a PAC file (Proxy Auto-Configuration) that directs traffic appropriately.

Deployment of this solution requires system access to the Web Filter software.

To arrange for this deployment please contact Trustwave Support.
