INFO: Enhanced file type detection in SEG 7.2.3

Question:

  • What new variants of file types are recognized by the latest MailMarshal File Type update?

Information:

File Type 7.10.2 is included in MailMarshal SEG 7.2.3.

This version adds the following types to the recognized list:

  • DOS Device Driver (SYS)
  • JBIG2 Picture format (JBIG2)
  • Mac OSX Finder Info (dsstore)
  • Microsoft Program Library (LIB)
  • OpenXML Document (OpenXML)
  • Packet Capture Next Generation (PCAPNG)
  • Striata Encrypted Mail Communication (EMC)
  • Visual Source Safe Source Code Control (VSSSCC)
  • XPS documents (XPS)
  • XPS Embedded font (ODTTF)

This version improves detection of the PDF type.

Notes:

You can use the "Not Spam" submission in the MailMarshal Console to submit files that are not recognized (Binary Unknowns) to Trustwave.

These submissions will be considered for inclusion in future file type updates.
