INFO:502 Bad Gateway – Squid is not running.

This article applies to:

SWG: 11.x

·  Description
In some scenarios Squid won’t start and in the GUI you may see a communication such as:

"This cache server is not active."

·  Symptoms

You will see a 502 Bad Gateway error.

·  Cause
It is a known bug in Squid that it does not accept some special chars like "_" or "-".

·  Solution
Change the hostname to a name without special, reserved characters.

Notes:

Changes like this will cause certain processes to restart on the SWG and may interrupt scanning in a production environment.

It is recommended to do this during a maintenance window where it’s appropriate for the system to go down.
