INFO: MSC is using excessive network-bandwidth

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • WF 5.x
  • WFR 5.x

Question:

  • After installing the Mobile Security Client in my network, I noticed a spike in the bandwidth usage of the Mobile-Web Filter device. Is there any reason why this is happening?

Information:

The bandwidth usage on your firewall is expected to be high in relation to the MSC just because of how it is designed and configured/installed. That is, the MSC is setup to work as a proxy and unlike the internal filter were request are only been mirrored.

The screen shot below shows how the MSC works when a URL request is made.

The checks and balances performed by the MSC is the major reason why there is a spike in it network bandwidth usage.

Optional.
