HOWTO: Configuring Connector Agent to allow multiple customers

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • MailMarshal SPE
  • Connector Agent 7.1 and above

Question:

  • How do I allow a single Connector Agent installation to synchronize groups for more than one customer?

Procedure:

With Connector Agent 7.1 and above, you can enable multi-customer functionality in the Connector Agent.

  • Note: The default single customer functionality (like earlier versions of Connector Agent) allows you to synchronize for all domains of a single customer, from multiple directory sources. You do not need multi-customer for these cases.

To enable multi-customer functionality:

  1. On the computer where Connector Agent is installed, edit the Registry.
  2. Navigate to the Connector Agent registry key
    • For 32 bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Marshal\SPEConnectorAgent
    • For 64 bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Marshal\SPEConnectorAgent
  3. Add a DWORD value: MultiCustomer
  4. Set the value to 1

This setting enables addition (and deletion) of customer items in the Connector Agent GUI. When you add a connector, the wizard gives you the option to add it for the existing selected customer, or a new customer. You are prompted for a login name (email address) and password associated with the customer. This credential must be valid for the Customer Console.

To remove the multi-customer functionality, delete the above value or set it to 0. (To avoid unexpected results, ensure that only one customer is configured in the Connector Agent before changing this setting.)

Note:

As always, take due care when editing the Registry.
