HOWTO: Manually loading the license on a standby WebDefend appliance

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • WebDefend - All versions

Question:

  • How do I upload a new license to a WebDefend appliance that is in stand-by mode?

Procedure:

To manually load the license on a standby WebDefend appliance:

  1. Using a program such as WinSCP, copy the license to the standby WebDefend appliance to /home/bgse/pub
  2. SSH to the standby appliance as bgse, then "su -" and login as root
  3. Change to the directory:

    cd /home/bgse/pub

  4. Copy and rename the license to the correct file name (assume for this example that the uploaded license file is 2A43C.lic):

    # cp 2A43C.lic /usr/local/opt/breach/breach.lic

Notes:

The filename MUST be breach.lic
