INFO: YouTube for Schools

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Web Filter 5.0.10 and above
  • WFR 5.0.10 and above

Question:

  • How can the Web Filter be configured to work with YouTube for Schools?

Procedure:

The Web Filter's YouTube for Schools Enforcement feature permits students view educational, approved YouTube content only.  The relevant settings are located at:

Policy>Global Group>Global Group Profile>YouTube Video Control

Policy>IP>Group Profile>YouTube Video Control

Policy>LDAP>Profile>YouTube Video Control

Enforcing YouTube for Schools

  1. Click “On” to enable YouTube for Schools Enforcement.
  2. In Unique School ID for YouTube Access, enter the unique school ID key obtained from YouTube for your school account. When finished, click Apply.

Notes:

When YouTube for Schools Enforcement is enabled, the Approved Content (incl.VuSafe) feature set up in the Policy tree must be disabled.  This is due to the fact that YouTube for Schools Enforcement requires YouTube to be unblocked, while Approved Content (incl. VuSafe) requires YouTube to be blocked.
