HOWTO: Deploying the cloud client on Macs using Apple Remote Desktop

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • M86Cloud

Question:

  • How do I deploy the M86Cloud Client to many users?

Procedure:

The detailed steps below describe how to deploy the M86Cloud Client to many users via Apple’s Remote Desktop application.

Pre-deployment Steps

  1. Unzip the client on a test machine and install it manually.
  2. Restart the machine. (Do this even if it is not required by the install.)
  3. Open your browser and navigate to http://127.0.0.1:8000/setup
  4. Log in using the default password: admin
  5. Change the password to a robust password.
  6. Open finder and navigate to Applications.
  7. CTRL click on the "Cloud Client" application and choose "Show Package Contents"
  8. Locate the file named isf.local (this file contains the local configuration password that you just set). You will need this file for the next procedure.

Deployment via ARD

  1. Copy the following to the /etc directory on the target machine:
    • The isf.cfg file from the original cloud client zip
    • The isf.local file from the pre-deployment above
  2. Deploy CloudClient.pkg to the target machine.
  3. Restart the machine.
