HOWTO: Administrators cannot view Web Logs

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • SWG version 10.x

Question:

  • Administrators cannot view Web Logs in the administration GUI?

Information:

This occurs when you need to have administrator-level users that are not members of the Super Administrators group.

Create a new administrator group (e.g. "View Web Logs") and add the administrator-level user that you want to have access to the Web Logs to this group:

Web Logs can only display users that are Identified by the system - it will not work for Unknown Users.

One way to identify users is to assign a name in SWG to each user's IP address:

The next step is to give the "View Web Logs" administrator group permission to view the Web Logs of the users above.

Open the "Permissions - Grid View" tab, expand "Users / User Groups" and select Update from the drop-down to the right of the users you wish to be visible to members of the "View Web Logs" administrator group (Default is None):

Members of the "View Web Logs" administrators group should now be able to see the Web Logs of the users that they have been given permission to view. For example:

Notes:

Only NEW web logs will be seen. These changes do not apply to historic traffic or logs.
