PRB: Web Components not displaying correctly under IIS 7

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG)
  • Trustwave ECM/MailMarshal Exchange 7.X
  • IIS (web server) 7.X

Symptoms:

  • Spam or Quarantine Management website does not display correctly
    • Missing images, missing button backgrounds, text colors wrong, site layout incorrect
  • Admin Console website does not display correctly
    • Error message: Please enable "Binary and script behaviors" in Internet Explorer's Security Settings to view this page

Causes:

  • The IIS Role Service Static Content is not installed.
  • As a result, images, CSS files, and client JavaScript files might not be served.

Resolution:

To resolve this issue, on the IIS web server, open the Server Manager application. Expand Roles and add the Role Service Web Server  | Common HTTP Features | Static Content.

Notes:

Microsoft states that the Static Content feature is enabled by default in IIS 7. However reports from the field suggest that in some cases it was not enabled by default.

Current versions of the Web Components installer attempt to enable Static Content.
