ERRMSG: Certain Java versions cause the Admin GUI to leak memory

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Software version 3.0.00 and higher

Symptoms:

  • If R3000 Admin GUI is left open for a few days, it could leak enough memory to cause the GUI to run out of memory. In this scenario, the OutOfMemoryError message displays in the Java Console. This problem only occurs on some systems.

Causes:

  • Though this problem does not occur consistently, it seems to happen when the following Java versions are used to start the R3000 Admin GUI:

  • JRE 1.6.0_06

  • JRE 1.6.0_11

Resolution:

Short Term:

If it is not convenient to upgrade the version of the Java application, please do not to keep the client open for more than a few days, or to restart the client when it runs out of memory.

Long Term:

Upgrade to latest Java version when convenient to do so.
