FAQ: Best practices for reports on ER

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Enterprise Reporter 6.0 and below

Question:

  • Best practices for reports on the Enterprise Reporter

Reply:

Every customer has their specific needs and wants a quick solution for a Global type report. The ER is an indexed mysql database and requires time to get the information. A company with 100 users does not compare with 5,000-30,000 users, we can get you the info but will require some drilling down. The best way is to have a starting point and ask yourself, what you really need.

  • A report on bad categories were accessed ---this can be done in Settings>category groupings or Custom reports>Sample Custom reports>TOP 20 USERS summary reports these will show total time.
  • One Specific user report - that can be done in Custom reports>Custom reports wizard enter username like this %username% this is a wild card feature.
  • 2 - 25 users report this can be done in Custom reports>Custom reports wizard enter username like this %username% add on at a time. Now you will notice the view drill down is grayed out! that's because it is cpu intensive and will email you the report when it finishes.
  • A single url website - this can be done in Custom reports>Custom reports wizard enter url as http://myspace.com and your dates and view drill down
  • A Pie chart report -click on Drill Down Reports>categories>Export Report>break type>pie chart now you can view or email it.
