FAQ: SharePoint requires persistent connections

Expand / Collapse

  • Question
When connecting through a Vital Security Web Appliance, how do I prevent "Page Cannot Be Displayed" (or similar) errors in my browser when I click a link in a Microsoft SharePoint session that has been idle for a few minutes?

  • Answer
Microsoft SharePoint works best with persistent connections. This is a requirement when the Vital Security Web Appliance is implemented transparently, and NTLM authentication is used on both the appliance and the SharePoint server. For the best results with SharePoint, please ensure that the following options are enabled on all scanning servers:

    Enable Persistent Connection from Browser
    Enable Persistent Connection to Server

Both of these options are enabled by default. If they have been disabled, please follow the steps below to enable them on each scanning server:

  • Software Version

    8.4.x
    8.5.0
