FAQ: How do I allow container files without scanning in 8.5.0?

Expand / Collapse

  • Question
How do I allow archive containers without scanning all files inside them?

  • Answer
With 8.5.0, two Advanced Allow actions have been added to Security Rules. These actions allow containers through without scanning each individual file inside them. The options are:
Allow content and don't scan containers
    Bypass Scanning

This design effectively overrides the problem and workaround mentioned in http://kb.finjan.com/article.asp?article=1164&p=4

It is important to note that choosing the Advanced Allow actions will allow the content through without scanning no matter where it is placed within the Security Policy. Therefore, you should make sure to commit this action only to content that is highly trusted. Otherwise, you run the risk of allowing viruses and other harmful content through.
