Expand / Collapse

  • Description
The Trend Micro Anti-virus engine updates time out and fail while using the Vital Security as a proxy.
This specific example is with regards to Trend Micro scanmail.
Virus signatures and anti-spam updates status fails after trying to connect for one minute.

  • Symptoms
A manual update or scheduled update of the product's components fail after one minute.

  • Cause
Trend Micro uses the same user-agent as Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Therefore the update agent of Trend Micro is presented with the "status page" of Vital Security while downloading and scanning the update files.
The update agent cannot handle such a status page and believes there is an error while downloading the files.
