ERRMSG: Buffer I/O error on device fd0, logical block 0

Symptoms:

  •   These error messages appear on the console during boot-up.

kernel: Buffer I/O error on device fd0, logical block  0

kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0

Causes:

  • These errors are related to not having a floppy drive on the appliance.  The operating system is attempting to read from a floppy disk device which isn't part of the appliance.  These errors will be resolved in the next kernel update 
  • There are no negative side effects to these messages other than the few seconds that the system spends trying to access the floppy drive during boot.

Resolution:

The errors will go away in the next kernal upgrade.
