Question:
Cannot get expected results with New Custom Report
Reply
When attempting to create a New Custom Report to generate a report on a certain site or user, it may sometimes be difficult to get exactly the results that are desired. You may receive errors stating that the ER was unable to find any data for the sites or usernames that were searched for.
If this problem is encountered, verify that there is data for the selected time frame by using drill-down reports. Select a Category drill-down report from the main menu, and when the default report for the current day comes up, choose New Drill-Down Report from the top. Set the date scope to Daily, and set the date range for the time period you are interested in. If there is no data, and there should be, contact Tech Support, as there may be a problem with log processing.
If there is data present, then the Custom Report problem is likely due to the ER being very strict about considering searches to be matches. Your entries in the site or username field would have to exactly match information in the ER for it to call up data this way. In order to relax this criteria, you can use wildcards in your searching. The ER uses the percent sign (%) as its wildcard. For example, if looking for an access to www.8e6.com, you could enter "%8e6.com" or "%8e6%" in the site search field. By using wildcard searches and cutting down the site or username to a few significant characters, the ER is more likely to return results that you are interested in.
