Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • MailMarshal Reporting Console
  • Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG) Spam Quarantine Management and Web Console
  • Trustwave ECM/MailMarshal Exchange Quarantine Management and Web Console
  • Microsoft Terminal Services
  • Error registering ASP.NET

Question:

  • Can I install MailMarshal Reporting Console on a server running Terminal Services?
  • Can I install MailMarshal SMTP or MailMarshal Exchange Web components on a server running Terminal Services?
  • Can I install MailMarshal SPE Web Console on a server running Terminal Services?
  • Why does the Marshal install fail to register ASP.NET?

Procedure:

Trustwave does not recommend production installation of these products on a Terminal Server, due to possible resource conflicts between terminal sessions and other server applications.

If you must install the named products with Microsoft Terminal Services, you must complete the installation in Terminal Services Install Mode. You can force install mode by running the installation through Add/Remove Programs:

  1. Open the Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs -> Add New Programs -> CD or Floppy
  2. Browse to the location of the installation package and open it.
  3. Complete the installation as usual.

Notes:

  • It is good practice to use Install Mode when performing any installation to a Terminal Services server.
  • Trustwave does not recommend production installation of these products on a Terminal Server, due to possible resource conflicts between terminal sessions and other server applications.
  • You do not need to install Terminal Services on a server to use Remote Desktop Protocol for administration.
