This article applies to:

• Marshal Reporting Console
• Windows XP Simple File Sharing
• Windows (later versions) with disabled Password Protected Sharing

Symptoms:

• Error message You are not authorized to view this page when browsing to the Marshal Reporting Console website.

Causes:

• Marshal Reporting Console is installed on a Windows system that is not joined to a domain
• Simple File Sharing is enabled or Password Protected Sharing is disabled.
• Simple File Sharing forces all IIS access to use the Guest account. User level web authentication is effectively disabled.

Resolution:

To resolve this issue, disable Simple File Sharing (or enable Password Protected Sharing) on the workstation where Marshal Reporting Console is installed.

Notes:

This problem does not occur on a system that is a member of a domain.
