FAQ: Can EndPoint Security control access rights for a particular device?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Marshal EndPoint Security

Question:

  • Can storage devices such as USB sticks be digitally tagged so that access rights can be controlled on a device basis rather than a user or group?
  • Can I allow or block use of a particular USB drive?

Reply:

No, EndPoint Security cannot tag an individual device. You set access rights by user and by device class.

Note:

If you set up an encrypted USB device, that device can only be used when connected to a computer running the EndPoint Security client. This would prevent the device being used to export data.
