INFO: How do I stop MailMarshal Exchange processing messages?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Trustwave ECM/MailMarshal Exchange

Question:

  • How do I stop MailMarshal Exchange processing messages?

Information:

MailMarshal Exchange can be enabled separately for each processing node, or for each Virtual Server configured within the Exchange Server. The connection ("agent" or "stub") state is shown in the MailMarshal Exchange Configurator.

Version 5.X

The state is displayed in the Exchange Stub State or Exchange Agent State window. This is accessed in the MailMarshal Exchange Configurator by selecting Tools > Server Properties > Advanced.

To alter the state, select a Virtual Server instance in the window and click the Edit button. Choose one of the three options:

  • Install and Activate: A connection to the Virtual Server will be established and MailMarshal Rules will be applied.
  • Install but bypass rule processing: A connection to the Virtual Server will be established but MailMarshal Rules will not be applied to messages.
  • Uninstall: MailMarshal's connection to the selected Virtual Server will be uninstalled.
MailMarshal Exchange 5.2 and above also allows you to bypass processing for specific email addresses. See Tools > Server Properties > Advanced >Additional Options > Address Bypass.  For details and warnings about this feature, see the User Guide or Help.

Version 7.X

The state is displayed in the properties of each processing node server. This is accessed in the MailMarshal Exchange Configurator by selecting Server and Array Configuration and then the specific node.

To alter the state, open the node properties, and then select the Agent State. Choose one of the three options:

  • Agent Installed and Enabled: A connection to the server will be established and MailMarshal Rules will be applied.
  • Agent Installed but set to Bypass processing: A connection to the Server will be established but MailMarshal Rules will not be applied to messages.
  • Agent Not Installed: MailMarshal's connection to the Server will be uninstalled completely.
You can also bypass processing for specific email addresses. See Tools > Server Properties > Address Bypass.  For details and warnings about this feature, see the User Guide or Help.
