Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • WebMarshal

Symptoms

  • Event Log message: "WebMarshal Engine: Warning - General : The following download [file] to user [user] should have been blocked but wasn't."
  • Event Log message: "WebMarshal Engine: Warning - General : Download [file] to user [user] exceeded size limit but was not blocked."

Causes:

These messages are logged under the following circumstances:

  • WebMarshal Rules were changed during the download
    -or-
  • The remote Web server does not provide file size information in the response header.
  • WebMarshal "trickles" a portion of the file to the user before receiving the entire file from the remote server.
  • The file size exceeds the size allowed by the applicable rules.
  • If the download was aborted, WebMarshal would be unable to notify the user and the user would experience this result as a download error.

Notes:

This behavior only occurs with file size rules. Virus scanning and file type checking rules do not allow unscanned files to be delivered to the user.
