Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Security Reporting Center 2.1
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2

Question:

  • Why can't I add a serial number?
  • Trial key does not work.
  • How can I add a serial number when running Windows XP SP2?

Symptoms:

  • Adding a serial number fails on Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed.
  • Error: 'The serial number could not be added. The following information was provided: No installed modules found that correspond to the serial number entered. Install the module and then enter the serial number'.
  • Error occurs when attempting to add a serial number.

Resolution:

This issue is fixed in SRC version 2.1a and above.

Workaround:

In order to resolve this issue in earlier versions of SRC, please perform the following steps on the computer running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.

  1. Click Start > Run
  2. Type regedit and click OK.
  3. Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetIQ Scheduler Agent
  4. On the right pane, right-click ImagePath, and then click Modify.
  5. Remove quotes from the Value Data entry and click OK.
  6. Exit the Registry Editor.
  7. Restart the Server.

Notes:

Warning: Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. NetIQ cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be resolved. Make sure that you backup your Registry prior to making any changes.
