Question:
What is new in Firewall Suite 4.1c?
Information:
Updated and Simplified Check Point LEA Configuration
New user interface wizards for configuring Check Point with OPSEC LEA make it easy to create a connection to the Management Server without touching configuration files. For Check Point NG users, an updated SDK allows both sslca and Clear connections.
Support for Multiple Cisco PIX Interfaces
Users of Cisco Pix 6.2 firewalls can now map multiple interfaces for improved reporting. Use the Cisco Pix options under General Firewall Activity to map your PIX firewall interfaces.
Enhanced URL Categorization Settings
New settings for URL Categorization let you exclude IP addresses from categorization reports and improve performance by limiting categorization to Web documents. With version 4.1c, SurfControl licensing is automatic for both Core and General categories. A full Firewall Suite license includes unlimited updates, with no need to enter additional keys or purchase a separate license.
New Check Point LEA Connection Settings
When collecting data with Check Point LEA, you can now adjust the debug level and, for Check Point NG users only, the delay before downloading data and the elapsed time between connections. For more information, see the Firewall Configuration Guide.
Improved User Interface
Based on user input and research we have dramatically improved user interface usability. Improvements such as tree controls, better flow, and a more intuitive design have greatly simplified Firewall Suite configuration.
Configuration Enhancements
Improvements to many configuration settings offer a greater range of reporting possibilities. User-configurable report ranges using macros let you select any report range. Scheduled clearing of FastTrends databases, DNS caches, and FTP caches frees up resources. Configuring and selecting saved report templates is vastly more manageable in the newly revamped Reports dialogue. Users can now define search engines through the user interface. Many more features are now configurable both globally and for individual profiles.
Report Improvements
Reports are more attractive and readable than before. Legends are now neatly placed along table items.
New Start Of Week Setting
Under Options, users can now specify any day of the week as the start of the week in their particular region. This information is used during report generation.
New Time Zone Adjustments for Profiles
You can now specify the default time zone of origin for your log files. If the log files do not specify a time zone, Firewall Suite uses the Time Zone adjustment value. Most log file formats include the time zone of the server. Others, such as W3C format, always use Greenwich Mean Time. Those that do not specify and are not known to be GMT will be parsed using the Time Zone Adjustment setting.
You can also specify the time zone where reports will be used, ensuring that your reports make sense to users outside the time zone where the logs were generated.
