What are the differences between the core and general database categories for URL Categorization?

Information:

URL Categorization is based on diligent analysis by the categorization vendor (SurfControl) to review each website for content. The websites are then assigned to categories according to their content.

There are two different databases available, Core Categories and General Categories. The categories in each database are shown below.

Core Categories

  • Drugs/Alcohol
  • Gambling
  • Hate Speech
  • Violence
  • Sexually Explicit

General Categories

  • Games
  • Investment
