HOWTO: How do I filter on a specific Rule?

Question:

How do I filter on a specific Rule?

Symptoms:

  • Unable to see all of the rules in my report.

Procedure:

The Firewall Rule filter element lets you specify which firewall rules to filter upon. Firewall rules determine what activity is allowed through your firewall.  Most firewall rules are identified by numbers.

To filter on a specific firewall rule please follow the steps below:

Firewall Suite

1.  Edit your profile.
2.  Select the Filters tab.
3.  Click New.
4.  Select Include or Exclude (depending on what you want to report on).
5.  Click Next.
6.  Type a name for the filter.
7.  Click Next.
8.  Choose "Include/Exclude Activity based upon:"
9.  Check Rule.
10. Click Next.
11. Provide the rule numbers you would like to filter upon.  Multiple rules must be separated by a space.
12. Click Next.
13. Click Finish.


Security Reporting Center

1.  Edit your profile.
2.  Select the Filters tab.
3.  Click Create Local Filter.
4.  Give the filter a Title.
5.  Put a check next to Rule.
6. Provide the rule numbers you would like to filter upon.  Multiple rules must be separated by a space.
7. Click Save.
8. Choose the option for Include or Exclude depending on what you want to report on.
9. Click Save.
