HOWTO: How do I create an AutoForward rule?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • MailMarshal (SEG)
  • MailMarshal ECM/MailMarshal Exchange

Question:

How do I create an AutoForward rule?

Procedure:

In MailMarshal it is possible to create an AutoForward rule to forward messages to one or more specific users if certain criteria are met.

Departed Employee

If an employee has recently left the company, it might be useful to create a rule to automatically forward all messages, which are addressed to the former employee, to another e-mail address.  To do this, create a rule that looks similar to this:

Where message is address to olduser@domain.com
BCC a copy of the message to newuser@domain.com
And delete the message

Copy to External

If an employee works from both the office and from home, it might be useful to create a rule to automatically forward all messages, which are addressed to their work e-mail address, to their home e-mail address.  (This is a last resort if mobile access to the internal server is not available.) To do this, create a rule that looks similar to this:

Where message is addressed to workemail@domain.com
BCC a copy of the message to homeemail@isp.com
