ERRMSG: Error: Could not create the FastTrends index-file for the following reasons: the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Security Reporting Center 2.1

Symptoms:

  • Error: Could not create the FastTrends index-file for the following reasons: the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Causes:

The firewall may be locking the file as it is actively writing to it.

Information:

In order to determine whether file locking is causing this issue, please follow the steps below.

  1. Make a copy of the log file and store it in a different directory.
  2. Create a new profile to analyze the copied log.

If the log can be analyzed in its new location, then your original profile will not be able to run until the firewall has finished writing to the directory for the day.  This will result in your reports not being available until the day after the logs are created.
