Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG)
  • Trustwave ECM/MailMarshal Exchange

Symptoms:

  • Error: 'Configuration error. problem loading User Groups. Ruleset UserManager: Appears to be a loop in the group definition LDAPCONNECTION/GROUPNAME.'
  • Error appears in Application Event Log.
  • Unable to reload MailMarshal configuration.

Causes:

This issue is caused by an Active Directory group being a member of itself.  The native tool, Active Directory Users and Computers, will not let you configure a group in this manner; however, it is possible to do this through some third-party applications.

Information:

To address this issue:

  1. Remove circular group membership in Active Directory.
  2. Reload the LDAP user group.
  3. Reload the MailMarshal configuration.
