FAQ: Does SEG email flow depend on the SQL server being available?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG)

Question:

Does SEG email flow depend on the SQL server being available?

Reply:

No. SEG queues database insertions for later action if necessary. Available disk space is the main limitation on this feature. When the SQL server becomes available, records will be inserted. Database downtime of a few hours normally does not affect message flow (depending on the number of messages being processed).

Inserting large numbers of queued records can take considerable time.

  • User interfaces are dependent on the database and will not work while it is unavailable. This includes MailMarshal (SEG) 10 Management Interface, Configurator, Console, SQM and Message Release.
  • Mail history and SQM depend on the database. Messages will not be available for viewing or action in these interfaces until the associated records have been inserted.
  • MailMarshal (SEG) 10 Management Interface also uses the separate Config Service database.
