FAQ: Can I run WebTrends 7.0 and Security Reporting Center on the same computer?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Security Reporting Center 2.X
  • WebTrends Enterprise 7.0
  • WebTrends Professional 7.0
  • WebTrends Small Business 7.0

Question:

Can I run WebTrends 7.0 and Security Reporting Center on the same computer?

Symptoms:

  • Error: "Page cannot be found."
  • Unable to start WebTrends-MySQL service.
  • Unable to start NetiQ-MySQL service.

Reply:

Since both applications utilize a local MySQL database you CANNOT install Security Reporting Center on a the same computer as WebTrends 7.0.

If you do install both applications on the same machine the my.cnf file that is created on the C:\ drive will be replaced with the details for the application that is installed last.  This will cause both applications to fail when trying to connect to their respective databases.
