McAfee for Marshal

McAfee for Marshal is a configuration and update tool that allows the McAfee anti-virus engine to be used with Marshal products.

Important Notes About This Release

  1. This release supports ONLY the following versions and releases of Marshal Products:
  2. ALL Marshal product(s) installed on a server must be upgraded to supported releases BEFORE you upgrade McAfee for Marshal. The installer checks for supported versions.
     
  3. The previous version of McAfee for Marshal uses McAfee Engine version 5.1.00. McAfee has declared End of Support for the McAfee 5.1.00 Anti-Virus Scanning Engine, effective January 31, 2008.  For more information, see http://www.mcafee.com/uk/smb/support/customer_service/end_life.html.

    Marshal strongly urges customers to update McAfee for Marshal to version 5.200.x before January 31, 2008.

Version 5.100.x

Upgrading

To upgrade from earlier versions of McAfee for Marshal, ensure that no MailMarshal Configurator or WebMarshal Console instances are running, and then run the product installer. Version 5.200.x supports upgrade from 5.100.x only. If MIMA or NIMA version 4.x is installed, you must uninstall it and then install McAfee for Marshal.

Uninstalling

To uninstall McAfee for Marshal:

  1. Remove the McAfee for Marshal scanner from all MailMarshal and WebMarshal scanning rules.
  2. Delete the McAfee for Marshal scanner from the list of scanners in each installed product.
  3. Restart the Engine services for each product. If the server has not been restarted since McAfee for Marshal was installed, restart the MailMarshal Controller.
  4. Close the MailMarshal Configurator and WebMarshal Console.
  5. Use the Add/Remove Programs control panel to uninstall McAfee for Marshal.

VS-119 Downloaded files were retained in a Windows temporary directory. Fixed.
VS-150 The name of the updater service is now "Marshal McAfee Updater." The existing name is not changed during upgrades.

5.100.0.2735   March 6, 2007  

VS-120 Files of zero size contained in archives were not properly handled. Fixed.

5.100.0.2454   January 10, 2007

VS-91 Included MMMcAfee.DLL for MailMarshal Exchange installations.
VS-111 Removed limitation of not being able to install on a MailMarshal Array Manager only installation.

5.100.0.2371   December 12, 2006

VS-5 Updated to version 5.100.0.194 of MCSCAN32.DLL.
VS-79 The Updater component now retrieves files from a new location. Files are unpacked to a new location. Only the three most recent sets are kept. For more information, see Marshal Knowledge Base article Q11490.
VS-80 Updated to version 5.100.0.1 of MSMcAfee DLL used by Marshal products for virus scanning.
VS-81 The McAfee for Marshal installer installs the MSMcAfee DLL to any installed Marshal products on the server where it is installed. The installer cleans up old DAT files.
