Hardware and Software Requirements

The following are hardware and software prerequisites for the MailMarshal Reporting Console installation. Note that if Reporting Console databases are installed on the same computer as the MailMarshal SMTP database, the MailMarshal SMTP requirements must also be considered. For information about MailMarshal SMTP database sizing, see the MailMarshal SMTP User Guide.

Disk Space	Free disk space to support databases. 10GB free recommended. If installing standalone, SQL Express requires a minimum of 600 MB of free disk space for installation (in addition to database storage space)
Memory	2GB
Supported Operating System	Windows Server Standard or Enterprise 2003 with Service Pack 1 or above Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Network Access	TCP/IP protocol Domain structure External DNS name resolution - DNS MX record to allow MailMarshal SMTP Server to receive inbound email
Software	SQL Server 2005, or SQL Server 2005 Express Advanced Edition Mixed Mode authentication enabled. Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.1 or above .NET Framework 2.0 Note: The MailMarshal Reporting Console installer also installs ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX extensions 1.0 and the Microsoft Report Viewer.
Supported Browsers (for client workstations)	Internet Explorer 6 or above Note: The MRC website will not work correctly if Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is enabled on the computer you are browsing from (Windows Server operating systems). IEESC blocks active content such as the ASP.NET code used by MRC. This behavior is by design. Adding the MRC site to “safe sites” may not resolve all issues created by IEESC. Firefox 2.0.0.12 or above (earlier releases of Firefox 2.0 do not correctly implement some report viewer navigation). Note: Report Viewer toolbar functionality in Firefox is limited to page navigation and export. Internet Explorer supports additional functions such as zoom and a group tree. Note: When installing prerequisites on Windows XP, be sure that IIS is enabled before you install the .NET framework. If you do not follow this sequence, the SQL Express Advanced or Marshal Reporting Console installation will fail. For more information, see Marshal Knowledge Base article Q12054.

Upgrading

MailMarshal Reporting Console can be installed side by side with the earlier MailMarshal Reports application.

Notes to Beta program participants:

Upgrade to the released version from the MailMarshal Reporting Console Beta release is NOT supported.
Use of a database created by the MailMarshal Reporting Console Beta release is NOT supported.
Please uninstall the Beta software and remove the database created by the Beta software before installing the released version of the product.
