Question:
- What are the Release Notes for WebMarshal 7.1?
Information:
The Release Notes included with WebMarshal 7.1 are accurate as of the date of publication.
WebMarshal 7.1.0 (build 8763) was released on June 20, 2018.
This article provides highlights and any later updates.
Fixed Issues
- Trustwave has identified an issue that can prevent the WebMarshal Engine starting after upgrade to 7.1 in some cases. This issue is resolved in version 7.2, available now.
- The WebMarshal 7.0 or 7.1 installer does not recognize the presence of Visual C++ 2017 redistributables. New installation of 7.0 or 7.1 will fail at the prerequisite stage if that package is installed. This issue is corrected in version 7.2.
Upgrade/Migration
Note that WebMarshal 7.X is a 64 bit application.
- Upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1 is a standard in place upgrade.
- Upgrade from 6.X migrates most settings and files to a new location.
- On upgrade from 6.X, Proxy Cache is cleared if it is configured within the WebMarshal installation location.
- Proxy Cache configured in a separate location (as recommended) is retained and used by 7.X.
- You must install new (64 bit) versions of virus scanners on each processing node and allow engine and signature updates to complete BEFORE upgrading from 6.X to 7.X. Downloading the initial engine and signatures can take up to 15 minutes.
- If you require any WebMarshal services to run as specific accounts, after upgrade you must edit the new services and set the account credentials. By default the new services run under the local system account.
- MarshalFilter and Secure Computing SmartFilter are not available for licensing or installation in this release.
- You MUST remove any references to these items in configuration before upgrading. Services will not start if any references remain.
- For URL filtering, use the Trustwave Web Filter Database (M86 Filter List).
File Type and Unpacker Update
As of February 28, 2019, new File Type and Unpacker functionality is available for WebMarshal 7.1. For details, see articles Q21078 and Q20913. The new DLLs are downloaded automatically.
