Question:

  • How do I clear my Java Concole Cache to correct certain browser anomalies when accessing my appliance GUI.

Procedure:

Clear Java cache in Windows OS-

From the ‘Start’ menu select ‘Control Panel’

From ‘Control Panel’ select the ‘Java’ icon.

From the ‘Java Control Panel’ you will default to the ‘General’ tab

At ‘General’ tab goto ‘Temporary Internet Files’ and click ‘Settings’

From ‘Temporary Files Settings’ click ‘Delete Files’

From the ‘Delete Temporary Files’ pop-up ensure both options are checked and click ‘OK’

Clear Java cache/certificate in MacOS environment-

From desktop use ‘Finder’ or ‘Spotlight’ to locate the Java Preferences console

To delete Java temp files select ‘Network’ from top menu listing

Toward bottom of ‘Network Menu’ select ‘Delete Files’

A pop-up menu will appear, ensure both checkboxes are selected and click ‘OK’

To delete cached SSL certificate select “Security’ from top menu listing

Identify the cached certificate with ‘Signer’ 8e6 Technologies and highlight the entry (Multiple certificates may be cached)

With the certificate highlighted click the minus sign icon (-) in the bottom-left corner.

Verify that the specified certificate has been removed by reviewing the list contents.

After performing the certificate action you will receive 2 prompts when attempting to re-connect to the filter (one time action). Pay very close attention to the messages as you will need to ensure you ‘Trust’ the new certificate.

Notes:
