Mac Authenticator identifies all domains as SunOne type

This article applies to:

  • R3000
  • WF/WFR

Symptoms:

  • When using the Mac Authenticator, the user does not get authenticated properly.  When reviewing the Authenticator's logs, the logs state that the user's directory type was identified as SunOne, when it should be something else.

Causes:

  • Early versions of the Mac Authenticator (1.0 and prior) were hard-coded to use the SunOne domain type, as full Open Directory support was not yet available during those versions' timeframe.

Resolution:

Updating the version of the Mac Authenticator (generally to 1.0.3 or above) will resolve this issue.
