How do I grant access to use the MailMarshal Configurator?

This article applies to:

  • Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG) 8.X and below
    • Note that MailMarshal (SEG) 10.X replaces the Console and Configurator with a web-based interface
  • Trustwave ECM/MailMarshal Exchange 7.X

Question:

  • How do I grant access to use the MailMarshal Configurator?

Information:

Use of the MailMarshal Configurator requires write access to the Registry and files on the Array Manager server.

Members of the local Windows Administrators group have the correct permissions. This group includes Domain Administrators and the local Administrator by default.

To grant Configurator access to other Windows accounts, you can add the accounts to the local Administrators group.

Trustwave recommends that you use domain accounts for Configurator access. Using domain accounts avoids potential permission issues with local accounts and User Account Control (UAC).

These accounts need not be domain administrators.

Notes:

To control Console access, and to grant permission to add nodes to the MailMarshal Array, see the Console Security and Manager Security items in the Configurator Server Properties.
