Rollback Restore fails if Policy Servers are in HA mode

  • Description

High Availability mode must be disabled prior to restoring a rollback.

  • Symptoms
When restoring a rollback, a "Restore failed" pop-up dialog box appears.  Further information regarding this event is absent from the System Log.  If a packet capture is recorded while trying to restore the rollback, no connections to the backup location (e.g., FTP server) are observed.

  • Cause
This is the correct behavior for a Finjan system operating in High Availability mode.  It prevents the functionality of the standby policy server from being adversely affected if High Availabiliy is disabled in the restored backup.

  • Solution
The administrator should verify that High Availability is disabled before restoring a rollback.  Should any changes be required in order to disable High Availability, these changes must be committed, and the administrator should wait until all devices have finished committing before restoring the rollback.

If appropriate, High Availability should be enabled again after the rollback is fully restored and all devices are stable.

Details about enabling and disabling High Availability for specific VSOS releases can be found in the Management Console Reference Guide.
