Question:

HTTP 500 Error when exporting an ER report in the RTF, CVS or XLS format

Reply

The security setting for Internet Explorer browser is set to disable 'Automatic Prompting for file download'. When exporting a report (either GUI > Drill Down Report or via the Custom Report Wizard) in the RTF, CVS or XLS format, Internet Explorer blocks the files download and displays an information bar at the top of the browser. When clicking on the Internet Explorer information bar and select the 'Download File' option to confirm action, the HTTP 500 Error appears.

There is a workaround to enable the 'Automatic Prompting for file download' security settings in Internet Explorer browser version 7.0. By enabling this feature, the customer will be given the option to 'Open' or 'Save' the file.
