Question:
Error: "ftp:Violation, action blocked by R3000"
Reply
If you encounter this error when trying to transfer a file via FTP:
"ftp: Violation, Violation, Violation, action blocked by R3000"
This usually means that your R3000(s) is blocking the FTP protocol itself. And, most likely, your profile is set to block UNCATEGORIZED sites.
When you select "Block Uncategorized Sites," you're instructing the R3000 to block access to ANY Internet services, except URLs that are categorized, and which you are not blocking.
There are several workarounds available:
1. You can try white-listing the IP address(es) of the FTP servers you're trying to communicate with.
2. You can exclude the FTP server's IP address in the Range to Detect.
3. In the Range to Detect, you can exclude port 21 (FTP) from being filtered by the R3000.
There may be other workarounds available, depending on your specific situation and requirements. Please contact 8e6 Tech Support is you need help unblocking FTP.
