Question:
- How to create a TextCensor script that checks for "foreign" or non-Western European characters
Procedure:
A TextCensor script that checks email for foreign character sets (not standard Roman) is present by default in SEG. To obtain the latest version:
- Download the character sets script from the sample scripts page (login required).
- Unzip the archive file.
- Follow the steps described in the included text file to create or update the script.
- The script checks the header of an email for the character set used to display the message in the email client.
- You can customize the script to include specific character sets.
- The TextCensor script can be included in a rule to quarantine email that uses these character sets.
You can also use the ideas in this script to create a Category Script TextCensor, for instance to add weight to your SpamCensor scoring for email using specific character sets.
