Unable to update URL Categorization database.


This article applies to:

  • WebTrends Firewall Suite 4.1c
  • Security Reporting Center 2.1

Symptoms:

  • Unable to update URL Categorization database.
  • Error: 'Download Aborted.'
  • Error: 'No URL Categorization information found.'
  • Error: 'No information for this section has been analyzed.'

Causes:

Firewall Suite is unable to access the SurfControl download site due to a proxy server restriction.

Information:

In order to resolve this issue you will need to make sure that your firewall and/or proxy server allows access to listsrv.surfcontrol.com.

Once you have verified that the proxy server is configured to allow a connection to this site, you will need to configure Firewall Suite to access the Internet through the proxy server:

  1. Click Tools | Options.
  2. Expand Main.
  3. Select Access to Internet.
  4. Check the box next to Connect through a Proxy Server.
  5. Configure your proxy address and port.
  6. Only check HTTP access requires a Username / Password if your proxy server requires authentication.
  7. Click OK.

After this has been done you should be able to update your URL Categorization database.

Notes:

If you access the Internet through a firewall please verify that there is no rule on the firewall that prevents access to listsrv.surfcontrol.com.

Firewall Suite only supports basic and NTLM authentication through a proxy server.
