How does changing the IP address of the MailMarshal server affect my mail environment?
Information:
If you change the IP address of the MailMarshal server, keep the following in mind:
- Reconfigure your email server to route all outgoing mail to the new IP address for MailMarshal. If delivery is by host name and the host name remains the same, this step is not required.
- If you have a firewall, ensure that the MailMarshal server's new IP address is authorized to receive and send SMTP traffic. If the firewall is remapping mail addresses, ensure that the incoming mail addresses are directing mail to the new IP address of the MailMarshal server.
- If the MailMarshal server is "visible" to the outside world, you may need to change your DNS MX (mail exchanger) records so that external mail is routed correctly to the new IP address of the MailMarshal server.
