Question:

How do I use MailMarshal as an automatic email responder?

Procedure:

You can set up a rule in MailMarshal to send an auto-reply message. The rule simply makes use of MailMarshal's ability to automatically send email notifications (which are simple email messages) based on a request in the subject line of a message. This can be used to automate the delivery of all kinds of sales and marketing information.

Sample templates are available in the default rules.

To create a new automatic responder, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Create an Email Template. The template should be addressed to {Sender} and contain a message stating the email has been received. The template can be a simple text message and it may contain an attachment such as pricing information for example.
  2. Create a TextCensor script which should be set up to look for a certain string on the subject line or the message body - whatever you prefer.
  3. Set up an auto-responder rule. The rule should look something like this:

    When a message arrives
    Where addressed to ProdInfo@mydomain.com
Where message triggers text censor script(s) Product Info Auto Responder
Send a Product Info Auto Responder notification message
And write log message(s) with Product Info Request
       And delete the message

Auto-reply messages can be used for a wide variety of purposes - limited only by your imagination. You can send a simple acknowledgement, product information, or attached documents of any kind.

Or, you may have changed your internet email domain and want to automatically notify people whenever they use the old domain name. In this case your rule may look like this:

    Standard Rule: New Domain Reminder
    When a message arrives
    Where addressed to OldDomain.com
    Send a NewDomainReminder notification message
And pass message to the next rule for processing.
